I am citing this from memory but every app lost at least $1 per ride and they were essentially in a war of attrition. My favorite kind of war. Uber also raised over 21 billion dollars since 2009.

Reasons millenials should be looking forward to life (according to claude.ai)

1. Advancements in technology - New innovations in tech like AI, robotics, renewable energy, and biotech have the potential to dramatically improve our lives. Things like self-driving cars and augmented/virtual reality could be commonplace soon.

2. Opportunity for social progress - Millennials are driving more inclusive attitudes around issues like LGBTQ rights, racial justice, and women’s equality that previous generations have struggled with. There’s hope that society will continue to become more tolerant.

3. Experiencing new culture - With the internet and cheaper travel, it’s easier than ever for millennials to explore new places, people, food, and ideas. The world is more interconnected than before.

4. Scientific breakthroughs - We’re making strides in genetics, neuroscience, astronomy and more that expand our understanding of the universe and ourselves. Exciting things are always being discovered.

6. Entrepreneurship/creativity - The internet has enabled millennials to invent, start businesses, sell crafts, and make a living on their own terms more feasibly than in the past. Many are embracing unique careers over traditional offices.

7. Experience of being a parent - Despite economic challenges, millennials that want children get the profound experience of raising kids. Parents can pass their knowledge to the next generation.

8. Fight against climate change- Renewable energy gets cheaper every year. With enough collective willpower, we could still mitigate environmental damage. Greener technology exists.

9. Culinary variety - Millennials have access to a wider array of foods, flavors and nutrition information than previous eras due to globalization. It’s easier to eat diverse, healthy diets.

10. Connection with others - Although millennials get criticized for tech addiction, technology also allows us to stay in touch with friends/family and meet new people from all over the world. Online communities unite people.
